Andromeda

The Andromeda galaxy is about 2.25 million light years away. It is visible to the naked eye. Larger than the Milky Way, this galaxy contains about a trillion stars. Also known as M31 or NGC 224. It is the closest major galaxy to the Milky Way. Andromeda and the Milky Way are expected to collide in about 4.5 billion years.
